Built on fast packet-switching technology, ConnectPlus Frame Relay combines the statistical multiplexing capabilities of X.25 with the high-speed and low latency characteristics of Time Division Multiplex (TDM) circuit switching. A key feature of the service is the flexibility to exceed or burst above the subscribed Committed Information Rate (CIR) of the Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC), depending on the network capacity available at the time of the transfer.

Frame Relay Definitions

Port determines the maximum rate at which the customer premise equipment can transmit data and receive data from the network. Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVCs) are the logical paths interconnecting the customer ports which allow data to be carried between customer locations. Committed Information Rate (CIR) is the rate (bits/s) that the network agrees to transfer data over a PVC under typical condition.
