About BIC
The SingTel Broadcast Innovation Centre (BIC) is established by SingTel to enable broadcast engineering talent development, facilitate and encourage commercial development of innovative broadcast solutions and strengthen Singapore’s position as a global media hub.
SingTel is committed to develop broadcast engineering talent by partnering Institutes of Higher Learning to jointly develop specialized elective courses. Through exposure to real-life broadcasting environments at the BIC, participants will gain valuable practical experience to complement their curriculum. SingTel also supports in MDA’s Media Training and Attachment (META) programme and manages a mentorship to aspiring broadcast professionals.
Singapore is well-connected to many parts of the world and has the potential to become a Digital Media Exchange and Multi-format Distribution Hub. SingTel connects Singapore to the global media ecosystem via its world-class satellite and terrestrial infrastructure. In practice, the BIC offers Singapore-based companies access to its facilities and seamless global connectivity to the world’s media centres such as Australia, India, Los Angeles and London.
A first in Asia Pacific, the BIC showcases latest industry innovations, with a focus on testing such media broadcast solutions on commercially available platforms on satellite and fiber. Through the Proof-Of-Concept laboratory, this enables companies to quickly commercialize a solution and execute an effective go-to-market plan. In collaboration with MDA, SingTel aims to attract the best of breed broadcast innovations to commercialize and launch from Singapore
