Prepaid Solutions
Pre-paid services are differentiated into two types; pre-paid SIM is used where there is one SIM and one user, Crew-calling scratch cards are used where there is one SIM and multiple users.
1. Prepaid SIM
Pre-paid SIM service is allows users to purchase e-vouchers for topping-up their prepaid call units and adding expiry to their Iridium service.
Prepaid SIM users do not have monthly subscription charges. The call units are deducted only when calls are made, and this service is suitable for seasonal users without regular daily usage.
E-Vouchers
There are two E-Vouchers, one for 75 minutes (4,500 units) and the other for 500 minutes (30,000 units). They are valid for 1 month and 12 months respectively. There is no activation fee for both.
Add Minutes/Add Expiry E-Vouchers
Subscribers also have the flexibility of adding Minutes (in 50 minute increments) and extending the Expiry (1 month increments) of their e-vouchers.
2. Crew Calling Scratch Cards
Pre-paid scratch cards can only be used on Crew Calling SIM cards. These scratch cards come with denomination of 20 minutes.
Short Burst Data (SBD)
Iridium’s Short Burst Data (SBD) Service enables value added applications to send and receive short data transactions of less than 2KB in periodic time intervals efficiently using the Iridium 9522 L-band transceiver.
The maximum length of Mobile-Originated SBD messages is 1960 bytes, the maximum for Mobile-Terminated SBD messages is 1890 bytes. Global network latency for the delivery of messages ranges from 5 seconds for short messages to 20 seconds for longer ones.
RUDICS E-mail
The Iridium RUDICS (Router-Based Unrestricted Digital Interworking Connectivity Solution) E-mail service allows subscribers to take the Iridium solution even further.
The Iridium phone acts as an external modem when connected to the subscribers’ PC, allowing them to send e-mails anywhere in the world with their Iridium satellite phone.
