ConnectPlus IP VPN (Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network)

Running on ConnectPlus IP backbone, ConnectPlus IP VPN is a high quality, fully managed and secured networking service. It aims to provide customers with a single high performance connection to the Internet, Intranet and Extranet. With this service, your customers, business partners and suppliers can gain ready access to your networks through fast and dependable TCP/IP connections across the world from Asia to Europe, US and beyond. Customers subscribing to ConnectPlus IP VPN suite of services will also enjoy full range of SingTel ConnectPlus benefits including one-stop-shop services for single end ordering, billing and fault reporting etc.
ConnectPlus IP VPN operates on SingTel's own private and managed IP infrastructure built on dedicated links to countries having ConnectPlus's Points of Presence (PoP).
Customers can build their global private networks using ConnectPlus IP VPN via leased line, ISDN line and even traditional dial-up line to provide access for users at remote sites or on the move.
The ConnectPlus IP VPN suite of IP services include :
(1) ConnectPlus IP VPN (Network Based)
Features - Suitable for site-to-site communications in corporate intranet (sharing information within a single organisation) and extranet (sharing information between organisations) using dedicated access.
- Provides a solution for customers running different application types that require different performance levels.
- A secure IP VPN solution based on the Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology for delivering the security level equivalent to Frame Relay or ATM networks.
- A secure IP VPN solution delivered from Service Provider network rather than customer premises equipment.
- Offers several classes of service and the associated parameters defining quality of service, to address different performance levels required for different applications.
- Customers benefits from the ability to select the class of service for their applications and hence achieves cost savings by running non mission critical applications like e-mail over a class of service with best effort delivery.
- Uses MPLS standard to scale the network for supporting tens of thousands of VPNs
- Supporting any range of IP addresses, e.g. customers with private IP address can send their data packets directly without the need of performing network address translation (NAT).
- Requiring customers no investment in additional VPN equipment at their premises for encryption and tunneling - thus more cost savings for customers.
Availability - ConnectPlus IP VPN (Network Based) will be made available both locally (in Singapore) as well as regionally.

(2) ConnectPlus IP VPN (CPE Based)
Features - This is a CPE-based IP VPN solution, delivered from the customer premises equipment.
- Suitable for site-to-site communications in corporate intranet (sharing information within a single organisation) and extranet (sharing information between organisations) using dedicated access.
- Provides a solution for customers who want end-to-end security for their IP connection (i.e. from customer premise A to customer premise B); this is an enhancement over the existing ConnectPlus IP network which already has built-in basic security features in place.
- Suitable for customers who want to extend their coverage via the Internet but over a secured connection.
- This means deploying VPN equipment at customer's premises and providing additional security through :
- a) encryption using technologies such as DES; and
- b) tunneling (i.e. create a secure path for the data packets which are encrypted) using technology such as IPSec, an industry standard for tunneling protocol
- Customers however need to invest, house and maintain the VPN equipment at their premises
Availability - ConnectPlus IP VPN (CPE Based) is already available and has both local and regional coverage.
