What is STD 020 service?

STD 020 is SingTel's premium grade direct dial service for customers who demand high-quality calls and assurance of instant access to Malaysia.

How are STD 020 calls charged?

A STD 020 call is charged in blocks of 10-cent unit. Each unit allows for a certain amount of talktime. The talktime allowed depends on the town/city called.  

STD 020 calls made to mobile phones in Malaysia are charged based on the charge district that the mobile phone is registered in. For example, if the mobile phone number called is registered in the Penang charge district, you will be billed at the STD 020 rate for a call to Penang even if the called party is at Sabah.

How do I use the service to make calls to Malaysia?

Making a STD 020 call is simple and easy:

If you are calling a telephone line number in Malaysia, dial the access code 020, followed by the area code for the particular town, and the required party's number.

 

If you are calling a mobile phone number in Malaysia, dial the access code 020, followed by the mobile network code and the mobile phone number.

How do I apply for STD 020 service?

STD 020 service is available automatically on all SingTel telephone lines. Hence, you can use STD 020 directly from your telephone without applying.

 

If you are not an existing SingTel telephone line user,  you need to apply for SingTel IDD facility on your telephone line.  Please click here for a copy of the application form.  The form is also available at SingTel hello! shops.  You can apply on-line, mail or fax the form to us.

Do I need to pay any registration fees or monthly subscription?

No. Application for the service is free-of-charge and there is no subscription fee for the service.

How long does it take to activate SingTel IDD facility?

Within the next working day upon receipt of the application form.  All applications are subject to SingTel's approval.

How will I be charged if I use SingTel international call services on my Starhub/M1 line?

SingTel will only bill you for whatever usage you use of SingTel international call services.

How do I prevent unauthorised STD 020 access?

(a)  For SingTel fixed telephone line users :

 

To prevent unauthorised STD 020 calls from being made from your SingTel fixed telephone line, you may activate Phone Lock facility to block STD 020 calls from your telephone line.

 

(b)  For non-SingTel telephone line users :

 

Please contact your service provider to ask for the equivalent of SingTel's "Phone Lock" facility on your telephone line.

Does my existing Phone Lock facility on my SingTel fixed telephone line for IDD 001 apply to STD 020?

Your existing Phone Lock facility for IDD 001 does not apply to STD 020.  To block STD 020 calls from your telephone line, you need to activate Phone Lock facility for STD 020.

How can I be assured that I will be billed accurately for all STD 020 calls made?

Your monthly bill will list out all the overseas calls you have made within the billing cycle.  Detailed information captured includes date and time of call, the overseas number you have called, the call duration of each call and cost incurred for that call.  For billing enquiries, you can call 1688.
